REcruitment

IT RESOURCES FOR EVERY NEED

We have access to a huge talent of experienced IT people with ambitions, commitment and understanding of European culture, whether you need talented developers who specialize in a particular technical field, scrum masters, system designers, project managers or developers with broad technical experience.
We recruit employees with all imaginable profiles and qualifications, for example, within the Microsoft Solution Framework (MSF) .NET, Java, PHP, Opensource RPG, Responsive Design, SCRUM, App Development for iOS / Android / Windows / Xamarin, Web Design, Sharepoint, Drupal and Business Intelligence.

We find the candidates who are most suitable for your business and the tasks you need to solve, and we hire them for you. Subsequently, we provide attractive workplace at our Cairo office, give your employees a thorough introduction into European culture, and help motivate them while working directly with your other IT staff.

Normally, you may have one or more IT personnel employed in our Cairo office, within two months after selecting us as your outsourcing partner.

First of all, we make sure we understand what needs and wishes you have for your future IT employees in Cairo. We, therefore, ask you to complete a skills matrix with your technical requirements for the candidates we will find for you. Once we have reviewed and understood the requirement, we will design a brief business plan that we will discuss with you, together with the skills matrix.
We search our database for suitable candidates that match your needs, and assess whether there is someone that will fit into your business. Last but not least, we advertise on digital media for the right candidates, and headhunt in some cases where we think it would be appropriate.
Based on the incoming applications and our headhunting, we hold preliminary interviews with up to 10 candidates, for each IT employee we will find for you. As a regular part of the screening of our interviews, we test the candidates’ ability to communicate in English and thoroughly examine their international experiences and personal qualities, so we can figure out how they will be able to maneuver in a collaboration with a European company.
Candidates will then be exposed to our technical interview, where we will probe them with detailed technical questions to find out how skilled and experienced they are.
With the help of our advanced scoring system, where we compare our assessment of the candidates with the business plan and the skills matrix you have completed, we select 2-3 candidates per job, which will be the absolute best match. This gives you a qualified and efficient recruitment process, where you can –with our assistance- directly select the person we will hire.

We also agree on salary and working conditions with each of the candidates, so it’s in place before we present them to you. If we recruit a team of IT personnel for you, our recruitment includes an assessment of which candidates fit best together in a team.

You can either come to Cairo to meet the candidates and choose from a personal interview with each of them, or you can have Skype meetings with them. However, we always recommend that you travel to Cairo to meet the candidates personally, and visit our office so that you can also experience the positive atmosphere and professional environment that your future IT staff will be working in daily.
Once you have decided -with our help- who you want us to hire, we determine the date of employment and design contracts, which would be signed by both the new employees and CrossWorkers.
We meet together to give you adequate advice and guidance on how your IT outsourcing can be as smooth and productive as possible. We respond to questions from you and your other IT staff about working conditions, practical issues, Egyptian culture, communication, and so on. We also recommend that you make a small crash course in the form of a welcome pack for your new IT developers, with descriptions of you as an enterprise, your organization, employees, customers and the applications and tasks that your new employees will help to solve.

EGYPTIAN IT DEVELOPERS

HERE IS OUR
EXPERIENCE

WHAT TO ENJOY

High level of education and commitment

According to our experience, the Egyptians are better educated, more motivated and eager to maintain their skills than many European IT people today. In general, IT education programs are very challenging in Cairo, and we have many IT developers with a PhD or a 5-year university degree. Egyptians do not mind working hard and for long hours, and are very much willing to go on business trips. In CrossWorkers, we expect them to have a working day of eight hours, while local businesses require 10-11 hours in comparison. Once you have created good mutual trust and respect in cooperating with your Egyptian IT developers, they will, without a doubt, do their utmost to fulfill the required task, deadline or service.

PAY ATTENTION TO

Some cultural differences

In Egyptian companies, it is not well-considered that the employees disagree with the management, and therefore, they need to understand that we appreciate that they say their opinion. Once they know that’s the way we prefer it, they are generally very happy about the way to communicate. The Egyptians are also not used to great openness from the management about any company-related issues, and they love Western Europe’s openness. They are also fine with our direct tone, but they need to understand that being straight to the point doesn’t mean that we are being rude or ill-mannered. Last but not least, the Egyptians are not the biggest planners of holiday timings, so they need help setting their holidays so it does not happen at the last minute.

CrossWorkers

EMPLOYEES’
COMMENTS

Well-functioning cooperation without intermediary

I enjoy working at CrossWorkers because you work directly with your customer without intermediaries. It makes it both easier and more fun. I love interacting with people from a different culture and a different mindset than my own, because it makes me challenge myself. It’s also exciting to understand the business that our application needs to support, because it’s different than what I’m accustomed to. The technical part of my work, however, is the same as my previous jobs.

Sara, .Net Team Leader

Sara has been working as team lead for a number of years and has considerable knowledge of different technologies. She has been working closely with her European customer since mid 2017.

Family feelings from Cairo

Communication and cooperation with my European customer works really well. So good that I feel a sense of belonging to my customer’s company, as if we are a big family, even though I’m geographically far away. The project manager continuously tells me about the needs of the end customer and the tasks I will carry out. We hold a weekly meeting and communicate as needed during the week. The project is very interesting and my customer is skilled, I have also got used to the more relaxed management style in Europe.

Abdurrahman, Java Team Leader

Abdurrahman is a passionate Java developer and has a Ph.D. in computer engineering. He has been working for one of CrossWorkers’ European customers since 2016.

A dream come true

When I started in CrossWorkers, it was only a small company, but I believed in it, and I’m not surprised that it has grown into a large office. It’s like a dream come true. One of the experiences I have gained over the years is that you need to ask your customer all the necessary questions at the start of the collaboration, because even though it takes some time, it allows you subsequently to work much faster. In addition, it is important to get to know each other well, for example, by traveling to Europe or by the client’s visit to Cairo.

Ahmed, .Net Senior Developer

Ahmed is an IT developer and also an experienced scrum master. He has been working for CrossWorkers since its foundation, and is currently working with his second client.

Wanted cooperation with Europeans

I sought a job as an IT developer in CrossWorkers to learn how to work with people outside the Middle East, because it will enhance my career. As I expected, Europeans have a different mindset than what I’m accustomed to, and therefore, I faced some challenges in the beginning of communicating with my European client. Among other things, I’ve got used to the fact that they wanted a very direct communication. Today, our cooperation works really well and I love to visit my client, especially during snow time.

Khaled, Senior Xamarin Developer

Khaled has a significant Xamarin expertise. He has worked as a senior IT developer for one of CrossWorkers’ European clients since the beginning of 2017.

Facts about Cairo

Political peace and stability

Contrary to what some believe, there is political peace in Egypt. Since President Sisi was elected president in 2014, a number of reforms have been introduced, and both foreign investment and tourism have long been steadily increasing. Even though Egyptians drive like crazy, there are only a few accidents in traffic; It is primarily as a pedestrian that you have to walk carefully. As for terror, it is as safe to travel in Cairo as it is in European cities such as Paris and London.

Many candidates - low wage levels

In Egypt, wage levels are low because there are high levels of unemployment, rapid population growth and economic stagnation in the rest of the Middle East. Every year, 50,000 new IT candidates graduate in Cairo from the city’s 27 universities, many of which are highly ranked on international lists, as well as another 130 educational institutions. The many highly educated Egyptians struggle to get the best jobs with the objective of personal development.

Cultural readiness

People in Cairo are used to tourists, speak good English and are open and understanding of European and American culture. Although the majority are Muslims, there is also a large proportion of Christians (15 percent), and the majority of Egyptians, like many Danes, have a pragmatic approach to religion. Many Egyptians, and especially the well educated, have an open and international approach to life and a desire to develop and contribute with what they can.
