IT outsourcing – how to connect colleagues Offshore/Nearshore

Aug 2, 2017

In previous blogs we have talked about the initial stages of offshore cooperation. This time we will tell you a bit about the regular day-today work when the cooperation has begun – how do you get the best of the cooperation and how does it work?

In this part of the process you have found the right employee, with both the professional and the personal profile that best suits your company and your Danish employees.

Then comes the next step: Expanding you working relationship. What makes the cooperation work on a day-to-day basis as true colleagues despite the greater distance and language and cultural differences.

We recommend meeting as often as possible – both in Cairo and in Denmark. It is a great advantage that the Egyptian employee sees what type of business he or she works for. What should the product be used for – Does it look like anything he or she knows? Another advantage is that you can meet outside working hours and maybe have dinner, etc. This is something that strengthens the cooperation and makes it easier when everyday challenges are present themselves. You simply get know each other.

When the cooperation begins, an agreed number of travel days between the two countries are added to the ROI calculation, so travel costs do not come as a surprise. This creates peace of mind.

There are direct flights between Copenhagen and Cairo several times a week – depending on the season, and with 4 hours flight time, it is a reasonable journey. Visa to Egypt is a formality – you simply purchase a visa at the airport. Visa to Denmark is usually reached within 10 days, as we have a red carpet agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Prior to traveling to Egypt – for many for the first time ever – it is convenient to prepare properly – we have prepared a guide with general information so that you have relevant knowledge about the country and the culture.

Fortunately, there is no time difference to take account for – Cairo and Scandinavia are in the same time zone or with max. 1 hour time difference – which is quite practical and not always the case with offshore co-operation in, for example, the Far East or South Asia.

We have heard it many times from our clients: It can be culturally enriching to cooperate with colleagues from another culture, to feel how fellow colleagues that have a real interest in the collaboration – and that is virtually all IT employees who working in offshore – by nature. They possess a genuine curiosity and openness and are interested in learning more about Scandinavia.
