30.000 new app Jobs – What do we do?

Sep 2, 2017

Then we heard about it again. About the lack of IT developers who appear to be a showstopper in the IT-industry in Denmark. And while it’s old news that appears on a regular basis, we were once again reminded of the challenges facing the IT- industry.

On June 12, TV2 News Denmark reported that in the coming years there will be a need for up to 30,000 IT developers specializing in developing apps. And too few are being educated to saturate the market, which grows and grows. In addition many skilled developers simply leave Denmark in favor of, for example, the United States where wages are higher. So Denmark is challenged on two fronts, and it takes time to make a turn around.

Furthermore, it is a challenge for the industry that Danish IT education is not specialized for the Danish IT industry to meet the needs Danish companies have for specialists.

As a start-up business, it is difficult to attract skilled and experienced developers since they are in high demand and wages have risen dramatically.

What do you do if you are a start-up company with a great idea for an app and you need highly skilled app-specialist? Where do you go?

You go abroad.

In previous blogs, we have pointed out what to focus on when looking at offshore solutions, so we will not repeat it here. But the price and quality must match – that’s clear.

By recruiting offshore employees, your negative starting point can actually turn into something positive that will benefit your Scandinavian company because you can maintain your Danish IT employees you already have and they can develop their skills with project management, architecture and management of employees abroad.
